I am truly sorry to give a one star review to La Dame, who used to be one of the best tailors in Ernakulam City. I have been a customer here for the past 25 years. I had one of the most bitter experience today. I had given a very expensive and beautiful churidar material for stitching. The finished product had cut pieces stitched on to the shoulder because they said "there was not enough material" to stitch properly. So they attached a extra piece to make up the length. Without even bothering to give me a call and asking for my opinion or permission. I am a lean person who is 5.5 feet tall. This material had more than the standard length of 2.5 meters. Somehow, even though they had measured the material and also taken my measurements when accepting the order, there still was not enough material to stitch according to the measurements taken. Also, on checking the two sleeves, one had design on it and the other was plain (without design). When I asked them to get the left over cut pieces and make the sleeves identical, I was told that they had disposed of the cut pieces. The sleeve was cap sleeve, hardly 2 inches length. They didn't even have that much material to make the correction. I asked them how they can dispose of the material before the customer has come for trial. They had no answer. I asked to meet this wonderful tailor who ruined my dress. They said he is on leave. How can this be? I firmly believe that my beautiful material, which I purchased from North India, was around 3 meters. But unfortunately I trusted La Dame and didn't carefully check the length before giving for stitching. I feel hurt and cheated. But there is nothing I can do. This tailoring shop still delivers excellent quality in their stitching. But I will not be going here any more. My advice to anyone who gives quality material here for stitching is that you measure your material yourself, so that if they give you a patched up dress, you will at least know that you are being cheated and can confront them confidently about it.
